Welcome to Bourne Orthodontics
Congratulations for taking the first step towards a beautiful and heathy smile!
At the first appointment, patients will have a “photo shoot”- pictures taken with a camera, and an x-ray if recommended. After the diagnostic records are taken, there will be a consult with our Treatment Coordinator and Dr. Gelnett to learn how your child's teeth and jaw are developing. We find many children really enjoy learning about their teeth and leave feeling proud of what they’ve accomplished at their appointment. It is typically an easy appointment and helps to build our relationship with them.
At this appointment, our goal is to have the patient meet and interact with each of our staff members to build their comfort level. This helps many patients feel comfortable with our office and reduces some anxiety about the next appointment. This first appointment is as much about diagnosis as it is about talking to the kids and answering any questions they may have about teeth and braces. You can expect to be in our office for 60 to 90 minutes. This your opportunity to get to know us and ask as many questions as you can think of.
After checking in with our front desk, an assistant will bring the patient back into the operatory. Our office is small, therefore, we have to limit the operatory to patients only. The waiting room is separated from the operatory by a clear, glass door. Parents are welcome to watch through the door.
To make your appointment as efficient as possible, we require your insurance information before the appointment. This will allow us to give you the most accurate pricing information as possible when you meet with the Financial Coordinator.
Please go to the Patient Portal to find the new patient forms. These forms must be completed and brought with you to your first appointment. If you have any trouble with the forms, come to your appointment 15 minutes early and we will help you complete them.
For many kids, they are excited to start braces and can’t wait to get them on, YAY! For some, they are less excited and/or nervous. We will work with you and your child to make the process as comfortable as possible.
